COMMUNICATION WITH YOUR CHILD
HOW DOES IT HELP

Speaking to your child regularly has many benefits. Firstly, you build trust and understanding between you and your child. Communication is also important for developing verbal competency and vocabulary expansion. The more words they hear you use in context, the more words they understand the meaning of. Children also learn how to speak structurally and properly through the way you communicate with them.

WHY IT MATTERS

Communicating with your child matters because it teaches children how to interact with the real world. From early ages, we develop  our language and social skills almost simultaneously. Communicating with your child becomes a big part of how they communicate with the outside world. The includes emotional expression and behavioral patterns.

HOW TO IMPROVE

1. Encourage your child to speak to you. Ask them how school was and how activities make them feel. Ask their opinion on their favorite cartoon, etc.

2. Really listen to your child. This is the most important part of communication. Focus on what they say and how they say  it as well as body language.

3. Respond appropriately to your child. When they do something good, let them know they have done a great job. This is called positive reinforcement. When angry with your child, calm down and speak in a calm fashion, this helps children understand why something was wrong not just that you are an angry parent.
